What is Piles and the characteristics of Piles?

yoga and health benefits

What is Piles?  :-Definition: Medically, Piles (Hemorrhoids) are swollen and inflamed blood vessels (veins) in the rectum and anus.  Piles are broadly classified as follows: External: Piles that are outside the anal verge Internal: Piles that occur inside the rectum Causes: These include the following:
ü     Genetic predisposition (weak rectal veins, walls)
ü     Poor muscle tone in the rectal region
ü     Constipation
ü     Obesity
ü     Sedentary lifestyle
ü     Chronic cough
ü     Pregnancy
ü     Overuse of laxatives or enemas
ü    Lifting heavy weights habitually Symptoms: Symptoms vary depending upon the site of piles, duration of complaints and general health of the person.
ü     Some of the other symptoms generally associated with piles are:
ü     Protrusion of piles outside the anus; this usually occurs after defecation, prolonged standing or unusual physical exertion
ü      Bleeding from the anus: This can occur before, during or after stools.

Grade 3 piles can find some relief of symptoms with homeopathy but may not be completely cured. Grade 4 piles can get symptomatic relief with medicines.  External piles present as a swelling outside the anus with irritation and itching.  Grade 1 and 2 of internal piles can be significantly helped with homeopathy.  The results from the analysis of single piles under pure lateral loads and combined vertical and lateral loads are presented in this paper.

The conventional methods for analysis of piles based on sub-grade reaction methods also do not account for the interaction between the vertical and lateral loads.
They can be classified into four grades:
ü    Grade 1 piles are small swellings on the inside lining of the anus.  The influence of vertical loads on the lateral response of piles installed in sandy soils is brought out in this paper through 3dimensional finite element analyses.  The maximum design bending moments in the laterally loaded piles under combined loading were found to increase with increase in vertical load levels in both the soils.

The laboratory and field test data on the lateral response of piles under the combined action of vertical and lateral loads is rather limited. This paper presents some results from 3D finite element based numerical analyses that show the significant influence of combined loading on the lateral response of piles.  These can be painful sometimes and usually do not bleed. Internal piles are usually not painful but these bleed when they are irritated such as during the passage of hard stools.  The numerical results have shown that the influence of combined loading on the lateral response of piles is to significantly increase the lateral capacity in sand and marginally decrease the capacity in clayey soils. In general, it was found that the effect of combined vertical and lateral loads in sand is significant even for long piles, which are as long as 30 times the pile width, while in the case of clayey soils, the effect is not significant for piles beyond a length of 15 times the width of the pile.
