What is yoga

What is yoga -  you might be one of the millions who has taken a yoga class and perhaps even mastered the peacock pose or maybe the downward dog pose. You might do Yoga for physical benefits or to rest your mind but Yoga has a lot more to offer for a deeper consciousness and higher awareness.

When you think of yoga you probably imagine exercise and complicated positions. But actually, it's traditionally based on meditation and spirituality believed to originate from the 5th or 6th century BC. Yoga is an Indian practice that also covers religion and philosophy.

Yoga is a philosophical school of Hinduism and therefore some consider the way of life. It offers guidance on ethical practices, offers self-development techniques and blends in its own brand of metaphysics. Yoga supports the concept of a personal God with the ultimate goal of achieving a liberated unified state of existence called Kabbalah Hatha yoga.
However, the physical practice more commonly seen in the West became popular in the 1980s and has been on the rise ever since. Over 20 million people practice it in the US alone. Shawn Morgan author of the mastery of change. He travels the world and he wants to talk to you about how yoga can be a complete system for you to recover from depression. So he suffered from depression anxiety social anxiety depersonalize panic disorder. All of these pencil problems for like 10 years and he recovered two years ago and so what's that like HE means. HE used to feel horrible every day and it got so normal that HE didn't even know. HeHEHe felt horrible and then two years ago HE no longer feels horrible every day. He sometimes goes through challenges but they're temporary, they know maybe lasts an hour and then HE gets over it so recovery is real and so HE to talk about how yoga can be everything.  you need if you could drop everything else and just use yoga as your system of recovery for depression. it's physical postures known as our saunas are used to relieve health problems reduce stress and make the spine and muscles more limber.  you might recognize some of the positions the bow pose the warrior pose and the downward-facing dog. the latter helps build bone density and because the heart is above the head encourages blood circulation. however, you practice yoga there's now a special day to celebrated June 21st.

Take a seat close up your vision and discover some intrinsic calmness and equilibrium. He talked about the formula you know of everything that HE  learned. HE boiled down everything into a formula for health and happiness and it's clean nutrition plus clean thoughts plus friendship nature and exercise equal health and happiness and yoga has everything that you need within that formula. it has a community the community of people that you practice with is the friendship you know you're getting out of your house and into nature. Hopefully to do yoga that was the best way to do it so there you've got the friendship.  the nature the exercise and as you get healthier and healthier the clean air clean water and clean food just becomes part of your lifestyle and the other major thing that really helps with yoga is that it's a physical practice and a mental practice so as you go through the different postures or asanas you're actually triggering emotional things that you stored in your body over your life and letting go of them or processing them.  so it's a physical thing that happens like memories are stored in your body.

but as you practice yoga and you change your physiology you change the way your body is you changed. so when you change your physiology you change the way your mind is you become more limber with your body. you can become more flexible with your mind and as you go through these different postures and you're triggering and releasing toxins in all your different systems of your body and all the different internal organs you're letting go of all the toxic memories and emotions that you've suppressed through your life and it's a really intense experience as you practice yoga more and more you definitely could experience crying emotional outbursts. HE experienced anger on a regular basis when HE does certain yoga postures and yoga also helps you increase concentration or Samadhi and this is really important to be able to have the more free will to choose your emotional state.

somebody once described Oprah as an amazing adult playground where people can let go and return in a way to the playfulness of childhood. before HE came HE thought in between this session HE would be bored what shall HE do how many books can HE read HE hasn't been bored for a second. HE thinks for me the most important thing is that it is simply what it is and it's up to each person who comes there to make of it what they make of it. He thinks the old Potter yoga retreat is about people experiencing the nature here and the simplicity of. HE guesses how we used to live without modern technology and coming back to our feelings.

so we learn to slow down here and with the eyes closed just take ten breaths in and out. okay just to gradually notice each time you breathe in the possibility to breathe in a little bit more air let the breath out find its natural resting point. HE had never tried yoga before and HE found it extremely nice HE feel like in sleeping positions HE could not do before and notice the difference when we are having lunch or dinner that HE can sit differently and eat because HE can bend differently. HE can use and stretch it makes me feel very good. we're not rushed by other classes coming in after so we have the time to explore our breathing practices meditation practices relaxation techniques a little bit more time to allow the body to relax and be in the nature being a peaceful surrounding. so those vibrations HE thinks feed more into the body when HE came last Sunday HE felt stressed. HE felt my body was tense HE've had bloated now HE feel relaxed HE feels my face is relaxed.
State studies have been done that the actual sheath of the DNA becomes weaker so that it can change form when you're in a relaxed state. not only that you're accessing the unconscious mind by being in that relaxed state and your teacher is like imprinting all these positive beliefs into your unconscious mind. so really yoga has everything absolutely everything that you need to recover from depression. so the key is to get started. there's a root of the problem and that the actions you're going to take are likely to succeed. make yoga yours and discover the diminutive when the five senses are still. once the brain is stilled once the thoughts are stilled that is definitely known as the maximum condition with the intelligent. they say yoga is this complete stillness in which one enters the unit of state never to become separate again. if one is not established in this state sense of unity will come and go.

Power to cure Cancer through Yoga : Unleashed

Yoga offers practical tools with which you can help yourself and mobilize your own inner resources. Yoga is empowering because you are doing something for yourself: no-one is doing it for you.  Cancer is a broad complex of illnesses in which a weakened immune system cannot cope with the proliferation of damaged cells. Of course yoga is not a "cure" for cancer but it can help to strengthen the immune system and encourage our inner healing forces. It works in various ways:

ü  Relaxation - calms the nervous system and alleviates the stress and anxiety which lower immune functioning and hinder healing
ü  Breathing Exercises - improves respiration, releases tension and restores balance and calm
ü  Meditation - develops the detachment and clarity that enables us to acknowledge and accept the realities of our situation and to cope with our fears
ü  Physical Posture - clears toxins, increases energy levels and enhances the functioning of our internal organs and systems

The simplest of yoga breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques can also help us to deal with the overwhelming emotions that come with the diagnosis of a life-changing illness: shock, anger, fear, and guilt to name the most obvious ones. And they can be of help in managing the stress, anxiety and pain of cancer surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women and almost 4,000 cases were fatal just last year. Conventional treatments for cervical cancer such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, hysterectomy, or the removal of lymph nodes and ovaries can often leave the woman infertile. However, alternatives exist for women who seek a more holistic approach to improving their bodies' responses to cancer. Cervical cancer can be remedied in ways alternative to conventional, damaging treatments. Instead of harsh treatments that can wreak havoc on the body, a combination of yoga, meditation, and a raw vegan diet can be a much more gentle and beneficial method for healing.

A raw vegan diet, for instance, is based on unprocessed and uncooked plant foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, seeds, sprouts, grains, nuts, beans, and seaweed. Raw foods and juices deliver pure, powerful nutrients straight to your system and are full of antioxidants and enzymes, which are vital to good health. Antioxidants, for example, reduce the cellular by-products of free radicals, which can lead to cancer. According to Leslie Kenton, author of Raw Energy, "Doctors and scientists confirm that raw diets not only prevent colds and flu and retard aging, but they can also help to cure cancer, diabetes, ulcers and arthritis."

When Amanda Deming learned she had cervical cancer from her pap smear results, she revised the way she prepared and ate food, instead of getting surgery to remove the cancerous cells. Not only did Deming decide against conventional treatment and chose to heal her body naturally, but she became a raw food chef, as well. "I think that you are what you eat and whatever you put into your body is definitely going to manifest. If you`re eating foods on a higher vibration, you`re going to run on a higher vibration," said Deming.

Everywhere else, Americans rush from their high-pressure jobs and tune in to the authoritatively mellow voice of an instructor, gently urging them to solder a union (the literal translation of the Sanskrit word yoga) between mind and body. These Types strivers want to become Type B seekers, to lose their blues in an asana (pose), to graduate from distress to de-stress. Fifteen million Americans include some form of yoga in their fitness regimen — twice as many as did five years ago; 75% of all U.S. health clubs offer yoga classes. Many in those classes are looking not inward but behind. As supermodel Christy Turlington, a serious practitioner, says, "Some of my friends simply want to have a yoga butt." But others come to the discipline in hopes of restoring their troubled bodies. Yoga makes me feel better, they say. Maybe it can cure what ails me.
Oprah Winfrey, arbiter of moral and literary betterment for millions of American women, devoted a whole show to the benefits of yoga earlier this month, with guest appearances by Turlington and stud-muffin guru Rodney Yee. Testimonials from everyday yogis and yoginis clogged the hour: I lost weight; I quit smoking; I conquered my fear of flying; I can sleep again; it saved my marriage; it improved my daughter's grades and attitude. "We are more centered as a team," declared the El Monte Firefighters of Los Altos Hills, Calif.
Sounds great. Namaste, as your instructor says at the end of a session: the divine in me bows to the divine in you. But let's up the ante a bit. Is yoga more than the power of positive breathing? Can it, say, cure cancer? Fend off heart attacks? Rejuvenate post-menopausal women? Just as important for yoga's application by mainstream doctors, can its presumed benefits be measured by conventional medical standards? Is yoga, in other words, a science?

What is OM and what is the significance of this word?- A Divine word OM

What is OM and what is the significance of this word?

"The goal which all the Vedas declare, which all austerities aim at, and which men desire when they lead the life of continence … is Om. This syllable Om is indeed Brahman. Whosoever knows this syllable obtains all that he desires. This is the best support; this is the highest support. Whosoever knows this support is adored in the world of Brahma."

Collection of different OM Images:-

OM Divine

OM Spiritual

OM Eternity- A wave OM

Om or Aum is of paramount importance in Hinduism. This symbol (as seen in the image on the right) is a sacred syllable representing Brahman, the impersonal Absolute of Hinduism — omnipotent, omnipresent, and the source of all manifest existence. Brahman, in itself, is incomprehensible; so a symbol becomes mandatory to help us realize the Unknowable. Om, therefore, represents both the unmanifest (nirguna) and manifest (saguna) aspects of God. That is why it is called pranava, to mean that it pervades life and runs through our prana or breath.

Om in Daily Life
Although Om symbolizes the most profound concepts of Hindu belief, it is in use daily. The Hindus begin their day or any work or a journey by uttering Om. The sacred symbol is often found at the head of letters, at the beginning of examination papers and so on. Many Hindus, as an expression of spiritual perfection, wear the sign of Om as a pendant. This symbol is enshrined in every Hindu temple premise or in some form or another on family shrines.
It is interesting to note that a newly born child is ushered into the world with this holy sign. After birth, the child is ritually cleansed and the sacred syllable Om is written on its tongue with honey. Thus right at the time of birth the syllable Om is initiated into the life of a Hindu and ever remains with him as the symbol of piety. Om is also a popular symbol used in contemporary body art and tattoos.

The Eternal Syllable
According to the Mandukya Upanishad, "Om is the one eternal syllable of which all that exists is but the development. The past, the present, and the future are all included in this one sound, and all that exists beyond the three forms of time is also implied in it".

The Music of Om
Om is not a word but rather an intonation, which, like music, transcends the barriers of age, race, culture and even species. It is made up of three Sanskrit letters, aa, au and ma which, when combined together, make the sound Aum or Om. It is believed to be the basic sound of the world and to contain all other sounds. It is amantra or prayer in itself. If repeated with the correct intonation, it can resonate throughout the body so that the sound penetrates to the centre of one's being, the atman or soul.
There is harmony, peace and bliss in this simple but deeply philosophical sound. By vibrating the sacred syllable Om, the supreme combination of letters, if one thinks of the Ultimate Personality of Godhead and quits his body, he will certainly reach the highest state of "stateless" eternity, states the Bhagavad Gita.

The Vision of Om
Om provides a dualistic viewpoint. On one hand, it projects the mind beyond the immediate to what is abstract and inexpressible. On the other hand, it makes the absolute more tangible and comprehensive. It encompasses all potentialities and possibilities; it is everything that was, is, or can yet be. It is omnipotent and likewise remains undefined.

The Power of Om
During meditation, when we chant Om, we create within ourselves a vibration that attunes sympathy with the cosmic vibration and we start thinking universally. The momentary silence between each chant becomes palpable. Mind moves between the opposites of sound and silence until, at last, it ceases the sound. In the silence, the single thought—Om—is quenched; there is no thought. This is the state of trance, where the mind and the intellect are transcended as the individual self merges with the Infinite Self in the pious moment of realization. It is a moment when the petty worldly affairs are lost in the desire for the universal. Such is the immeasurable power of Om.

How to Type it on your Computer ?
Try this! To get the Om symbol on your computer screen, open MS Word and key in backslash ( \ ) in Wingdings font. You will type in Om!

What is Yoga and whether it is safe to practice it or not?

Is Yoga Unsafe?

We often hear about the many health benefits to be gained from a regular yoga practice. But while there is much potential for healing, there is less-widely reported potential to harm—that is when we push our bodies so far we end up injured. “How Yoga Can Wreck Your Body,”  published yesterday in the New York Times Magazine, states that “a growing body of medical evidence supports [the] contention that, for many people, a number of commonly taught yoga poses are inherently risky.”  The piece was excerpted from the forthcoming book, The Science of Yoga: The Risks and the Rewards, written by a Time senior writer and longtime yoga practitioner William Broad.

Most yoga students understand that poses like Shoulder stand and Headstand should be practiced under the guidance of an experienced teacher, but Brood cites examples like the man who sat in meditation in Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Pose) for hours at a time and ended up temporarily incapacitated from nerve damage. He also describes a case where a woman suffered a stroke in Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward-Facing Bow or Wheel Pose).  “Yoga’s exploding popularity—the number of Americans doing yoga has risen from about 4 million in 2001 to what some estimate to be as many as 20 million in 2011—means that there is now an abundance of studios where many teachers lack the deeper training necessary to recognize when students are headed toward injury,” Broad writes.

“The question is not whether yoga is safe. What matters is whether the specific practices you are doing are safe for you, and whether you are doing those practices in a safe way. Someone who pushes too hard, who ignores the body’s signals that something is too much, is risking injury”

“Yoga asana done appropriately is one of the safest forms of exercise.”

How to control mind and changing it to Humanity rather than Wild

Steps of great significance

1. The mind can be controlled by practice, constant effort to fix the mind on God or spirit, and isolation, dispassion or non-attachment to sensual things.

2. Sit alone and watch the thought of the mind. Be indifferent, non-attached. Remain as a witness. Do not identify yourself with the thoughts. The mind will come under your control.

3. Do not think of the past. Do not plan for the future. Do not allow the mind to build images. Live in the solid present.
4. Do a thing that the mind does not want to do. Do not do a thing that the mind wants to do.

5. Study of spiritual books, austerity, charity and meditate with the spiritually minded overhauls paves a long way in the control of mind.

6. Chanting of any mantra and worship destroy the impurities of the mind, make the mind inward, induce isolation, help concentration and eventually lead to control of mind and attainment of God-consciousness.

7. It has been said, in this 21st century, the easiest way for controlling the mind and attaining end from this species is singing the Lord’s name.

8. Food influences the mind vegetarian food (milk, fruits, etc.) calms the mind. Non-Vegetarian food (meat, alcohol, etc.) excites the mind. Take vegetarian food. Practice balanced (moderation in diet).

9. Constant, selfless service with self-reliance, feeling of unity with all, is highly efficacious in purifying and controlling the mind.

10. Do not wrestle or struggle with the mind. Be regular in your concentration and meditation.

Note: - Some might find these points wrong but the truth of real world is that everybody knows these things and the only thing they lack is to implement the things in their lives. Be regular in your doings and see the future is yours. This is the truth of life, be divine.
